Elderflowers grow on the Black Elder Tree just as elderberries do. The delicate white Elderflowers are in season for a short time from the end of May to the beginning of June. They primarily prefer sunny locations located in Europe, North America, Asia, and Northern Africa.

Elderflowers have been used in many different cultures due to their antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties. They are very rich in bioflavonoids, mostly flavones, and flavonols, which are most commonly known for their antioxidants or immune boosters. Elderflower has been used to help alleviate some allergies, colds and flu, sinus infections, and other respiratory disturbances. Elderflower might also lower blood sugar levels similar to insulin.
